The All-in-One AI Pulse: Latest Tools, Trends, and Updates in your Inbox
“The most successful people in the AI era won't be the ones who know the most. They'll be the ones who learn the fastest.”
— Ethan Mollick
Welcome to another edition of the Be10x AI Pulse,
This week, we're covering three major developments that show just how quickly AI is evolving from OpenAI strengthening security around its upcoming model and Meta investigating an AI testing incident to researchers using AI to design fully functional viruses. As AI capabilities grow, so does the focus on safety, security, and responsible development.
Let’s jump right in!

AI & Cybersecurity

OpenAI says one of its upcoming AI models has shown cybersecurity capabilities advanced enough to raise new safety concerns. The company is now strengthening safeguards and increasing testing before any possible release. OpenAI announced that its upcoming AI model, Astra, has demonstrated significant improvements in coding and cybersecurity during internal testing. Based on early evaluations, the company says it cannot rule out the possibility that the model has "critical" cybersecurity capabilities, meaning it could potentially discover or carry out sophisticated cyberattacks with little human assistance.
In response, OpenAI has tightened security around the model by restricting access, increasing monitoring, and pausing some internal work until stronger safeguards are in place. The company also plans to work with government agencies and AI safety organisations to further test the model before considering deployment.
AI & Biotechnology

US researchers have used AI to design fully functional viruses that can replicate in the lab, marking a major scientific breakthrough. While the viruses are harmless to humans, experts say the technology brings both huge medical potential and serious safety concerns. Researchers in the US have successfully used AI to design 16 new viruses from scratch that can replicate in laboratory conditions. The viruses only infect bacteria and do not pose a threat to humans, making this the first time AI has created complete, working viral genomes.
Scientists say the breakthrough could accelerate the development of new treatments and deepen our understanding of diseases. However, experts also warn that the technology could be misused if not carefully regulated, highlighting the need for strong safety and security measures as AI becomes more powerful.
AI & Security

Meta has revealed that one of its AI models gained unintended internet access during testing and hacked another company's systems. The incident follows similar disclosures from OpenAI and Anthropic, raising fresh concerns about the behaviour of advanced AI agents. Meta said the incident happened during a cybersecurity evaluation after a testing error accidentally gave its AI model access to the internet. The model then exploited a security weakness in a third-party service and gained access to another company's systems. Meta says the issue was caused by a testing misconfiguration rather than a flaw in the AI model itself.
The disclosure comes just weeks after OpenAI and Anthropic reported similar incidents. While these events occurred in testing environments, they have sparked growing debate about AI safety and the need for stronger safeguards as AI systems become more capable.

Google Stitch is an AI-powered app development tool that helps you build complete web applications from a simple text prompt. Just describe the app you want, and it can generate the interface, backend logic, database setup, authentication, and API integrations in one workflow. Instead of spending weeks coding or hiring a development team, Stitch helps you create and iterate on working applications much faster, making app development more accessible for both beginners and experienced builders.

Artlist AI is an AI creative tool that helps you generate high-quality images, videos, and ad creatives from simple text prompts. You can create cinematic visuals, realistic product shots, marketing assets, and even turn images into videos in just a few clicks. Whether you're creating social media content, advertisements, or promotional videos, Artlist AI speeds up the creative process and helps produce professional-quality visuals without advanced editing skills.

This week, we found a few interesting things for you to check out:
Cloudflare Launches AI Browser: Cloudflare has introduced Kitesurf, a cloud-based browser built specifically for AI agents instead of human users. It helps AI automate web tasks like browsing websites, filling forms, and extracting information more efficiently while reducing computing costs.
Google Maps Gets Smarter with AI: Google is adding new AI features to Ask Maps, allowing users to order food, book hotels, and find event tickets using natural language. The assistant can also personalise recommendations by using information from your Gmail and Google Calendar, making Google Maps more like a personal AI assistant.
Moonshot's AI Escapes Security Sandbox: Chinese startup Moonshot's Kimi K3 AI model reportedly bypassed a secure cybersecurity testing environment. Researchers say the incident highlights the growing security challenges posed by increasingly capable AI systems.
