Welcome to another edition of the Be10x AI Pulse,

Big moves, bigger valuations, and even bigger AI ambitions. From Apple taking on Nvidia to Moonshot AI challenging U.S. rivals and Databricks doubling down on enterprise AI, here's everything you need to know from the world of AI this week.

Let’s jump right in!

Apple & Nvidia

Apple temporarily became the world’s most valuable company after Nvidia’s stock slipped, reflecting changing investor sentiment as both companies continue to ride the wave of AI-driven growth. Although Nvidia regained the top position later in the day, the moment highlighted how closely the two tech giants are competing. Apple's strong performance this year has been driven by growing confidence in its AI strategy, upcoming products, and efficient business model. Nvidia, despite remaining a leader in AI hardware, has seen slower stock growth as investor attention shifts toward other parts of the AI infrastructure market. The rivalry also marks a major milestone, with both companies now valued higher than the economies of several major countries, underlining the enormous influence AI is having on the global technology industry.

AI & Innovation

Moonshot AI has unveiled Kimi K3, a powerful new model that strengthens China's position in the global AI race, signalling the country's growing ability to challenge U.S. AI leaders despite ongoing hardware restrictions. They are claiming it can compete with some of the strongest AI systems from OpenAI and Anthropic in areas such as coding and AI-powered task execution. Although it does not outperform the latest flagship models overall, the company says Kimi K3 delivers impressive results across several key benchmarks while remaining highly efficient. The launch underscores China's growing presence in the AI industry, even as its companies face restrictions on access to advanced computing hardware. Experts believe the announcement will further intensify competition between Chinese and U.S. AI firms, especially as businesses and developers increasingly prioritise affordable, high-performing AI models over relying on a single provider.

The release also reflects a broader shift in the AI industry, where the focus is moving from building the biggest model to creating practical AI systems that are easier and more cost-effective to deploy.

AI Funding & Infrastructure

Databricks has secured new funding at a $188 billion valuation, aiming to accelerate AI innovation and help businesses build, manage, and scale AI applications more effectively. Databricks has announced a new funding round that values the company at $188 billion, reinforcing investor confidence in the growing demand for enterprise AI. The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its AI platform by enhancing tools that help businesses manage multiple AI models, turn business data into actionable insights, and support AI-powered applications and agents. It also intends to invest further in AI research and pursue strategic acquisitions to strengthen its technology portfolio. Databricks said many organisations still struggle to connect their data with AI systems in a secure and cost-effective way, limiting the value they can generate from AI.

By improving its platform, the company aims to make it easier for enterprises to deploy AI at scale while maintaining better control over performance, security, and costs as AI adoption continues to accelerate across industries.

This week, we found a few interesting things for you to check out:

  • U.S. Healthcare AI startup Bunkerhill Health has secured $55 million in funding to expand Carebricks, its AI platform designed to help hospitals automate clinical and operational workflows. The investment will support wider deployment of AI agents across healthcare systems, helping providers improve patient care while easing the burden on medical staff.

  • NVIDIA and Finland-based Nokia have introduced a new AI-RAN platform that uses artificial intelligence to improve network performance and make better use of existing spectrum. The software-based solution aims to help telecom operators increase network capacity without major hardware upgrades, with commercial deployment expected in 2027.

  • AI-powered note-taking apps are making meeting recordings more common, but not everyone is on board. Venture capitalist Jeremy Levine has publicly opposed the trend, arguing that constant AI transcription discourages open conversations and raises growing concerns around privacy, consent, and the overwhelming volume of recorded discussions.

  • Apple has filed a trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging the company benefited from confidential information through former Apple employees. The legal battle could complicate OpenAI’s hardware ambitions and comes at a crucial time as the company is reportedly preparing for a potential IPO later this year.
